Syracuse Mets drop third straight to Lehigh Valley

The Syracuse Mets dropped a third straight game to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Saturday night, falling by a final score of 4-1 at NBT Bank Stadium.

All of the scoring in the game came in the third inning. Drew Maggi opened the scoring with an RBI double to center. Following that, Nick Maton grounded one through the right side for an RBI single to make it 2-0. One batter later, Darick Hall drove in a run with an RBI double to center. Dustin Peterson capped off the four-run third for Lehigh Valley with an RBI triple to left. Cody Bohanek put Syracuse on the board in the bottom half of the inning with a solo home run to left, his second of the season.

Veteran left-hander Mike Montgomery got the start for the Mets and surrendered four runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings while walking two and striking out four. Jake Reed and Eric Orze each had scoreless outings in relief.

The Mets were held to just four hits.

Syracuse will try to take the series finale on Sunday afternoon and snap a three-game skid. The first pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
