21-year-old thrown from electric bicycle after collision with vehicle near Seneca Falls Walmart

Police say a 21-year-old was hurt after a crash involving an electric bicycle and vehicle near the Walmart in Seneca Falls.

According to a news release, around 2:20 p.m. the Seneca County 911 Center received a call reporting that a bicyclist was struck by a vehicle on North Road.

The Seneca Falls Police Department, Seneca Falls Fire Department, and North Seneca Ambulance responded to the scene.

They found that the electric bike was operated by 21-year-old David Vanhouten, of Waterloo, who was traveling west on North Road- when he attempted to pass a vehicle. The vehicle, operated by Parthenia Excel, 79, of Waterloo, then turned left into Walmart- striking the bicyclist.

Vanhouten was thrown from his electric bicycle and sustained minor injuries. He refused transport to a local hospital, according to police.
