Police say an Ontario woman was arrested following a welfare check.
According to a news release, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brittney N. Smith, 30, of Ontario for endangering the welfare of a child.
It is alleged that Smith left her three young children unattended. Concerned neighbors called in a welfare check as they observed two of the children playing outside alone and observed Smith’s vehicle was not at the location. Upon investigation, Smith was not home and adequate child care had not been established. Additionally, it is further alleged a 5-year-old was sleeping alone inside the residence at the time.
Smith was transported to the Wayne County Jail to await arraignment.
