Syracuse Mets blown out by Lehigh Valley IronPigs

The Syracuse Mets were blown out by the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, 14-2, on Thursday night at NBT Bank Stadium.

Lehigh Valley jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back as they cruised to victory.

It was a very rough night for Syracuse’s pitching staff.  Connor Grey got the start for the Mets and allowed six runs on seven hits over 3.1 innings while walking three and striking out three. Three relievers combined to allow eight runs and just one reliever had a scoreless outing.

Wyatt Young put Syracuse on the board in the third with a run-scoring groundout. In the sixth, Daniel Palka launched his seventh home run of the season over the left-field wall.

The Mets had seven hits and Wyatt Young and Khalil Lee each had two.

Syracuse will try to bounce back on Friday night. The first pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m.
