The New York Yankees announced Sunday that they have optioned infielder/outfielder Miguel Andújar and right-handed pitcher Clarke Schmidt to Triple as rosters needed to be trimmed from 28 to 26 by Monday.
Andújar was recalled from the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders on April 26 when outfielder Aaron Hicks was placed on MLB’s paternity list. He appeared in just one game, going 2-for-4 against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.
Schmidt has posted a 1.08 ERA over 8.1 innings this season.
The Yankees open a three-game series with the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday.
