The New York Mets will be without manager Buck Showalter for Monday’s series opener against the Atlanta Braves.
Major League Baseball announced minutes before first pitch that Showalter has been suspended for one game, and reliever Yoan López has been suspended three games for a pitch that MLB determined was intentionally thrown at Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Kyle Schwarber on Sunday night. The incident occurred in the top of the ninth inning.
Showalter and López also received fines.
Bench coach Glenn Sherlock will be the acting manager for Monday’s game, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.
