Gerrit Cole leads Yankees to eighth consecutive win

The New York Yankees won their eighth consecutive game on Saturday night with a 3-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

Gerrit Cole got the start for New York and dominated again, tossing six shutout innings while striking out six and walking two.

Miguel Castro, Clay Holmes and Aroldis Chapman each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.

The Yankees scored their first run of the game in the second. Isiah Kiner-Falefa grounded into a double play, but a run scored.


Gleyber Torres made it 2-0 in the the third with a sacrifice fly to center.

Kiner-Falefa extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth with a sacrifice fly to center.

Torres and Aaron Hicks each had two hits. Joey Gallo also had two hits, but left the game with left groin tightness.

The Yankees go for the three-game sweep tomorrow afternoon. Luis Severino will get the start. First pitch is scheduled for 2:10 p.m.
