Crunch fall to Rocket in regular season finale

The Syracuse Crunch had their six-game win streak snapped on Saturday night with a 5-1 loss to the Laval Rocket in the regular season finale at the Upstate Medical University Arena.

Gage Goncalves scored the lone goal for Syracuse in the first period while Hugo Alnefelt stopped 26-of-31 shots.


Cedric Paquette scored twice for Laval while Nate Schnarr, Joel Teasdale and Corey Schueneman also tallied. Kevin Poulin turned aside 24-of-25 shots.

Syracuse finished 0-for-2 on the power play and 3-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The Crunch will face the Rocket in the first round of the 2022 Calder Cup Playoffs. Game 1 is slated for Friday at 7 p.m.
