The town of Geneva has received a $377,310.43 reimbursement from the state toward the cost of a cooperative water project with the town of Seneca.
The money comes from the state Environmental Facilities Corporation. Geneva Town Supervisor Mark Venuti says the money will pay for part of the cost of a new well at Kashong Point that will supply water to the two towns.
The fourth well is now pumping water. The town Geneva will pay about a third of the total cost. The town of Seneca will pay the other two thirds, based on the amount of water each town uses from the well. Development along the Route 14 corridor south of the city of Geneva has led to an increased demand for water in recent years.
