The time is now to get started on your spring cleaning. The Town of Geneva will host a ‘Free Stuff Day’ event this Sunday, May 1 at the town’s recycling and disposal station on White Springs Road.
Town Supervisor Mark Venuti said the event will occur in two phases: People can bring items they no longer want to the station in the morning, followed by an item pick-up event in the afternoon. The event is being held in an effort to divert items from the Ontario County Landfill, according to Finger Lakes Times.
People can bring items that are clean and in working condition to the station between 10 a.m. and noon on Sunday. Accepted items include small appliances, tools, sporting goods, toys, lamps, chair, bikes and small tables. Items not accepted include clothing, electronics, mattresses, box springs, books, tires, construction debris and larger items like couches or big kitchen appliances.
Afterwards, people can browse items to take home from noon to 2 p.m. After 2 p.m., volunteers will dispose of or donate the remaining items.
