The New York Mets blanked the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-0, on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium.
Right-hander Chris Bassitt got the start for the Mets and allowed just two hits over six shutout innings while striking out six and walking three.
Drew Smith, Adam Ottavino and Edwin Diaz each tossed a scoreless inning in relief.
New York scored two of their three runs in the third. James McCann put the Mets on the board with a RBI double to center. One batter later, Starling Marte grounded one through the left side for a RBI single.
In the ninth, Marte was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to extend the lead to 3-0.
Marte and McNeil each had two hits.
