Police arrested a 46-year-old in Penn Yan following an investigation into a stabbing.
Around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday officers arrested Andrew Henshaw, 46, of Penn Yan for falsely reporting an incident and making a punishable false written statement.
Police say Henshaw had his wife call 911 and report that he had fallen on a steak knife- cutting himself. He was transported to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital.
Later, he called police and reported that he had been attacked by three men wearing stockings on their faces at the railroad tracks behind a local business.
Henshaw stated that one of the three men stabbed him.
Evidence technicians responded to the scene and conducted an investigation- finding that a kitchen knife- identical to those in his own kitchen- at the scene.
Henshaw later admitted to police that he accidentally stabbed himself while putting a kitchen knife in his back pocket. Then reported that he made up both stories to his wife- and police- in an effort to conceal that he accidentally stabbed himself.
Henshaw was arrested and released on an appearance ticket.
