The New York State Education Department (NYSED) could make remote learning on snow days a permanent options for schools.
The COVID-19 pandemic prompted NYSED to launch the “snow day pilot” program, which aimed to make at-home learning an option for schools who exceed their allotted number of snow days. Most districts who took advantage of the program are downstate, though the trial was in place for all New York schools, according to News10 NBC.
The Board of Regents is set to adopt these amendments concerning the options schools have when it comes to snow days and other emergencies.
