In this episode, we talk with event organizers Jan Regan and Richard Cox on the upcoming Mission Zero environmental awareness event at the Geneva Community Center.

The City of Geneva Green Committee, partnering with the Town of Geneva Sustainability Committee and the Geneva Community Center, presents “Mission Zero: Creating New Pathways for Living in Harmony with the Earth” on Saturday April 30 from 10 am to 2 pm at the Geneva Community Center, 160 Carter Road.
The event’s many features highlighting earth-friendly practices and initiatives include:
- Total Recall, a pop-up vintage clothing and accessory shop (all day)
- “Kitchen Hacks,” a cooking demonstration by Chef Sam Buyskes on using leftovers to create great meals for everyday family meals (11 am)
- Making Geneva a More Pedestrian and Bike-Friendly City, a presentation and update on the Downtown Renovation Initiative (1 pm)
- The Town of Geneva “Fix It” Clinic, where volunteer “handy people” offer repair and advice on small household appliances (such as lamps, vacuum cleaners, etc.) (all day)
- Silo Food Truck, offering foods sourced from local ingredients, including both vegan and meat options, parked in front of the Center (11-2)
- “The Story of Stuff,” short films presented every hour on the half-hour
- A Kids’ Corner, with hands-on painting and planting activities (all day)
In addition to presentations, about 25 booths featuring information on composting, recycling, sustainable home products, locally grown produce, solar options in the Finger Lakes, heat pumps and weatherizing homes for comfort and cost reduction, solar homes and numerous conservation and environmental offerings.
