The New York Yankees completed the three-game sweep of the Cleveland Guardians with a 10-2 victory in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium.
Gerrit Cole made his fourth start of the season and absolutely dominated. He tossed 6.2 shutout innings and allowed just four hits while striking out nine. It was by far his best performance of the season.
Wandy Peralta recorded the final out of the seventh and then fired a scoreless eighth. Ron Marinaccio allowed a pair of runs in the ninth.
The Yankees scored a season-high 10 runs on 13 hits.
New York jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first after Anthony Rizzo drilled a two-run home run over the right-field wall.

DJ LeMahieu extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a RBI double to center in the second.
The Yankees added three more runs in the third to increase their lead to 6-0. Aaron Hicks picked up a RBI on a fielder’s choice. Joey Gallo ripped a RBI double to right and Isiah Kiner-Falefa capped off the inning with a sacrifice fly to left.
In the sixth, LeMahieu launched a two-run homer over the left-field wall to extend the lead to 8-0.

Andres Gimenez put Cleveland on the board in the ninth with a two-out, two-run triple to right.
LeMahieu had a three-hit game while Rizzo and Gleyber Torres each had two. Marwin Gonzalez picked up his first hit as a Yankee with a single. Everyone in the starting lineup had a hit except for Josh Donaldson and Jose Trevino.
The Yankees will get the day off on Monday before they begin a three-game series with the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night in the Bronx. Luis Severino is expected to get the start.
