Owen Power scored the first goal of his NHL career to help the Buffalo Sabres defeat the New Jersey Devils, 5-2, on Thursday night at the Prudential Center.
It took the 19-year-old defenseman just five games to find the back of the net.
Kyle Okposo, Alex Tuch, Rasmus Dahlin and Jeff Skinner also tallied while Craig Anderson turned aside 29-of-31 shots.
Victor Olofsson recorded a career-high three assists and Tage Thompson had a pair of helpers as well.
Jesper Boqvist and Nikita Okhotiuk scored for the Devils while Andrew Hammond stopped 23-of-28 shots.
Buffalo was unable to convert on their lone power-play opportunity. However, they were a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill and scored twice while short-handed. Okposo and Tuch’s goals came on the same penalty kill in the second period.
The Sabres will head back home to face the New York Islanders on Saturday afternoon. Puck drop is slated for 12:30 p.m.
