After a rainout on Tuesday, the Syracuse Mets started the week with a doubleheader sweep of the Worcester Red Sox on Wednesday at NBT Bank Stadium. Syracuse won the first game, 1-0, in eight innings and game two, 4-3.

Syracuse walked it off in the eighth after Travis Blankenhorn launched a sacrifice fly to center.

Rob Zastryzny started game two and allowed two runs on three hits over three innings while striking out three and walking two. Trey Cobb and Alex Claudio recorded scoreless appearances in relief.

Both of Worcester’s runs came in the first. Ryan Fitzgerald launched a sacrifice fly to right and another run scored on a throwing error.

Daniel Palka crushed a three-run home run to right in the third to put Syracuse on top, 3-2.

Nick Meyer lined a RBI double to left in the sixth to extend the lead to 4-2.

The six-game series continues on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m.
