Sabres defeated by Blues, 6-2

The Buffalo Sabres fell to the red-hot St. Louis Blues, 6-2, on Thursday night at KeyBank Center.

The game was tied 1-1 after the first period, but St. Louis outscored Buffalo 5-1 in the last two periods to secure the victory.

Rasmus Asplund and Alex Tuch each scored while Craig Anderson stopped 22-of-27 shots. Owen Power picked up his first NHL point with an assist on Tuch’s goal in the second period.


Vladimir Tarasenko recorded a hat trick for the Blues while David Perron, Brandon Saad and Pavel Buchnevich also tallied. Jordan Binnington turned aside 35-of-37 shots to earn the win.

Buffalo finished 0-for-2 on the power play and 1-for-3 on the penalty kill.

The Sabres will try to bounce back on Saturday night when they host the Philadelphia Flyers at 7 p.m.
