Two arrested after children forced to live in unsanitary hotel room in Canandaigua

Police arrested two Rochester residents following an investigation into a complaint from a motel in Canandaigua.

According to a news release, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested Stephan E. Leach, 46 and Tanya L. Ells, 38 of Rochester for endangering the welfare of a child.

While responsible for the care of six children, Leach and Ells were found to have allowed them to live in a single hotel room in unsanitary conditions. The children were found in dirty, stained clothing. The children ages range from 2-years-old to 16 years-old. Both individuals were located by Ontario County deputies and arrested in the city of Rochester.

Leach and Ells were issued appearance tickets and are due to appear in Canandaigua Town Court at a later date to answer charges.
