Syracuse Mets shut out by Columbus Clippers

The Syracuse Mets were shut out by the Columbus Clippers, 5-0, on Tuesday night at Huntington Park.

Syracuse just couldn’t generate any offense as they had just four hits.

Mike Montgomery got the start for the Mets and allowed two runs on three hits over 3.1 innings while walking one and striking out six.

Trey Cobb followed Montgomery and allowed an unearned run over 1.2 innings. Justin Dillon surrendered two runs over two innings and Yoan López tossed a scoreless inning.

Josh Naylor put the Clippers up 1-0 in the first inning with a RBI groundout to second.

Alex Call homered to left in the second to make it 2-0.

Naylor picked up his second RBI of the game on a fielder’s choice in the fifth.

Columbus added a pair of runs in the seventh to cap off the scoring. Naylor drove in his third run of the game with a RBI double to left and Daniel Johnson grounded a RBI single to right.

Syracuse and Columbus will continue their six-game series on Wednesday night at 6:15 p.m.
