Rochester Red Wings fall to Buffalo Bisons in home opener

The Rochester Red Wings fell to the Buffalo Bisons, 6-4, on Tuesday night in the home opener at Frontier Field.

Aaron Sanchez made his second start of the season for the Red Wings and allowed three runs on five hits over five innings while walking two and striking out four.

The bullpen combined to allow three runs. Carl Edwards Jr., Tyler Clippard and Sam Clay each recorded scoreless appearances. Alberto Baldonado allowed a run while Jordan Weems surrendered the other two.

Buffalo jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning after a pair of RBI groundouts and a RBI single.

Jake Knoll put the Red Wings on the board in the third with a RBI single to center.


Andrew Young lined a RBI double to left in the fourth to cut the Bisons lead to one.

The Red Wings tied the game at three in the fifth with a sac fly to center by Joey Meneses.

Another RBI groundout put Buffalo back on top in the sixth.

Rochester tied the game once again in the seventh. Jake Noll ripped a RBI double to left to make it 4-4.

The Bisons plated two runs in the ninth to take a 6-4 lead and then held on for the victory.

Luis Garica collected three hits in the loss.

The Red Wings will try to bounce back on Wednesday night as they send Cade Cavalli to the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
