Senator Chuck Schumer was in Rochester on Monday to push for a new federal bill that would expand Veterans Administration (VA) benefits.
Sen. Schumer visited the Veterans Outreach Center on Monday, April 11, where he urged lawmakers to pass the “Honoring Our Pact Act,” according to 13 Wham. The law would expand VA benefits for service members who have cancer or other severe illnesses as a result of exposure to agent orange, burn pits, or other toxic chemicals.
The bill passed the U.S. House of Representatives in March of this year and is currently with the Senate. Both Sen. Schumer and President Joe Biden support the bill.
