The state FY 2023 budget includes over $9.4 million in funding for Cayuga County-area school districts.
Auburn, Cayuga County’s largest school district, will see its state aid increase from $48,642,409 in the 2021-22 fiscal year to $52,885,484 this fiscal year, a 8.72% increase, according to The Citizen. Of that increase, $3.3 million is part of the state’s three-year plan to fully fund the foundation aid formula, the largest chunk of state funding for school districts.
The recently-passed state budget increases statewide school aid by $2.1 billion to $31.5 billion, it’s highest funding level in state history, according to a press release from Governor Kathy Hochul.
Outside of Auburn, Cato-Meridian Central School District will see the second largest increase in aid from $15,453,493 in 2021-22 to $16,725,425 this year, a 8.23% increase.
