After two years of COVID-19 pandemic cancellations and lower-than-anticipated turnout, three popular local fishing contests are back for the 2022 season.

The first-ever Erie Canal Kids Derby will be held on May 21 in Clyde. The event is open to children ages 7-15 with time slots from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Weigh-ins will begin at 1 p.m. The derby will take place at Canalside at Lauraville Landing. Registration is required. The 24th annual Wayne County Youth Fishing Derby is set for June 17. The event is open to youth anglers ages 4-16.
