Rochester Red Wings defeat Toledo Mud Hens for third straight victory

The Rochester Red Wings won their third straight game on Friday night with a 7-4 victory over the Toledo Mud Hens at Fifth Third Field.

Rochester never trailed in this one and scored three of their seven runs in the first two innings.

Joey Meneses opened the scoring in the first with a RBI single to right. One batter later, Nick Banks grounded one through the right side for a RBI single to make it 2-0.

Tres Barrera continued his hot start to the season with a solo home run to left in the top of the second. In the bottom half of the inning, Zack Short put Toledo on the board with a sacrifice fly to center.

The Mud Hens tied the game at three in the third after Josh Lester ripped a two-run single to right.

Andrew Young put the Red Wings back on top in the fifth with a three-run shot to center.

Rochester extended its lead to 7-3 after Jake Noll hammered a RBI single to center in the sixth.

Daz Cameron cut the Red Wings lead to three in the ninth with a sacrifice fly to center, but the Mud Hens couldn’t generate anymore offense.

Luis Reyes got the start for Rochester and struggled as he allowed three runs (two earned) on four hits over 2.2 innings while walking four and striking out three. The bullpen allowed just one run over 6.1 innings. Carl Edwards Jr. (1.2 IP) allowed the lone run. Ben Braymer (2.1 IP), Alberto Baldonado (2.0) and Francisco Perez (0.1 IP) each recorded scoreless appearances.

Andrew Stevenson collected four hits in the win. Banks and Noll also notched multi-hit games.

The two teams face off again on Saturday at 5:05 p.m.
