Police say a Newark man was arrested following a vehicle traffic complaint.
According to a news release, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office arrested Larry D. Weems, 59, of Newark for driving while intoxicated.
The charges stem from a traffic stop after 911 dispatchers received a call that Weems was operating his vehicle while possibly intoxicated. Deputies were able to locate his vehicle after observing several traffic infractions and upon an interview, he was found to be in an intoxicated condition. Weems also refused all road side standardized field sobriety tests and breath tests. He was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation, and issued multiple traffic citations.
Weems was remanded to the Wayne County Jail where he is pending arraignment.
