Police arrested a Syracuse teen following a traffic stop.
According to a news release, State Police arrested an 18-year-old male for criminal possession of a firearm.
Troopers observed a male subject walking down the street with a handgun tucked into his waistband. When he was ordered to stop, a foot chase ensued for approximately one block. The male subject entered an abandoned residence and was taken into custody while attempting to exit through the back door. Once in custody, he admitted to possessing and hiding a loaded .380 pistol within the building. The pistol was recovered. The 18-year-old male was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, and resisting arrest.
The male subjects name is not being released due to his eligibility for youthful offender status. He was transported to the Onondaga County Justice Center where he is pending arraignment.
