A boating safety course that leads to the required New York State boating certificate is now taking registrations.
The eight-hour course is presented by the Finger Lakes Chapter of America’s Boating Club. The sessions will be at Lyons National Bank, 2433 Route 414, Waterloo, on Tuesdays, April 26 and May 3, from 6-10 p.m. and on Thursday, May 5, from 6-8 p.m.
Class size is limited, and pre-registration is required. The fee is $45. Participants will receive a comprehensive student guide and resource book.

To legally operate a motorized boat in New York, persons born after Jan. 1, 1988, are required to obtain a state Boater Safety Education Certificate. By 2025, everyone, regardless of age, must have a state safety certificate to operate a motor boat.
