Disability calculator

The SSA now has a calculator that you can use to estimate your retirement or disability benefit by assessing your actual earnings. Read more about it here. Or, you can find the calculator here.

If you are estimating for your retirement, it may be easier to use the Retirement Estimator first because it is easier to use.

The last version of the detailed calculator was updated in November of 2021. SSDI benefits could be subject to tax, depending on your income.

If disability is preventing you from filing, the IRS offers assistance through their Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs.
