Canandaigua woman arrested on new welfare fraud charges

Police say a Canandaigua woman was charged following a welfare fraud investigation.

According to a news release, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested Nichole A. Rosato, 23, of Canandaigua for welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.

It is alleged that Rosato received over $8000.00 in SNAP benefits and child care assistance from January 2020 through June 2021 because she had failed to truthfully report her household income. Additionally, she was also charged with providing false documents to Social Services which allowed her to receive the benefits.

Rosato will appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charges.
