Farmington Urgent Care reopens with limited hours

UR Medicine Thompson Health’s Farmington Urgent Care reopens today, April 1, with limited hours as the health system continues working its way back from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Located at 1160 Corporate Drive in Farmington, the urgent care site closed temporarily in late September of 2021 so the health system – which also has urgent cares in Canandaigua and Newark – could consolidate and redeploy staff, offsetting staffing challenges as the state’s COVID vaccine mandate for healthcare workers took effect. During the closure, the site was used for an outpatient monoclonal antibody injection clinic to treat mildly symptomatic but high-risk COVID patients.

Beginning today, April 1, the Farmington location will be open on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“Reopening this urgent care is something we have looked forward to for months, as it represents a tangible sign that our health system and our community are rebounding,” said Thompson Health President/CEO Michael F. Stapleton, Jr. “We are excited to once again provide patients with another option when they have an injury or illness, especially since this particular urgent care has served the community for more than 30 years.”

In another step forward, Thompson Hospital in Canandaigua is reopening its cafeteria to staff on Wednesday, April 6. It had closed last September, hosting food trucks on campus over the past several months as the Nutrition Services staff focused on meals for hospital patients and residents of the adjacent M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center.

In addition, although the hospital at one point had numerous operating rooms closed, it is back to using all six as it works through the backlog of patients.

While the health system is making progress in its goal to return to pre-pandemic staffing levels, Stapleton said, several positions remain open. These include both clinical and non-clinical positions. For more information, visit www.ThompsonHealth.com/Careers.
