The Buffalo Sabres extended their point streak to seven games, but fell to the Winnipeg Jets, 3-2, in a shootout on Wednesday night at KeyBank Center.
Six of the Sabres last seven games have gone into overtime.
Zemgus Girgensons provided all of Buffalo’s offense as he netted two goals. Girgensons recorded his first two-goal game since November 24, 2019 at Florida. Victor Olofsson and Alex Tuch scored in the shootout.
Craig Anderson stopped 25-of-27 shots in the loss.
Blake Wheeler scored in regulation and also added the shootout-deciding goal. Mason Appleton also tallied in regulation for Winnipeg and Pierre-Luc Dubois and Mark Scheifele added goals in the shootout.
Connor Hellebuyck turned aside 35-of-37 shots to earn the win.
Buffalo finished 0-for-2 on the power play and a perfect 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
The Sabres will continue their four-game homestand on Friday night when they host the Nashville Predators at 7 p.m.
