Tax season is in full swing, with millions of Americans still waiting for their tax refunds from the IRS.
Once you file, you can start tracking your refund depending on your situation.
If you electronically filed, you can start tracking 24 hours later.
For a paper return, you’ll need to wait until the IRS receives it and enters it into their system.
By March 18 the IRS had seen 72.22 million tax returns, according to The Sun.
Your refund can be checked online.
When does the IRS update the tracking information for refunds?
You can use the Where’s My Refund tool through the IRS website to track your refund.
The status of your refund will only be updated once per day.
This means checking multiple times is pointless because it isn’t going to change.
The update usually happens between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m.
The tool is not available between 12 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Monday’s.
It isn’t available Sunday between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m.
The deadline to get your taxes filed is April 18, 2022.
If you haven’t already, you can file for an extension by that time as well.
