Syracuse Opera and Tri-Cities Opera announce collaboration

Syracuse Opera and Tri-Cities Opera are excited to announce their first endeavor at co-producing an opera for Central New York and the Southern Tier. Rossini’s Cinderella will first entertain audiences at the Forum Theatre in Binghamton on April 10, 2022 and then be remounted at the Oncenter’s Crouse Hinds theater in downtown Syracuse on May 1, 2022. Both companies will utilize the same creative team, cast, chorus, orchestra, set, and costumes.

“We as companies have been fighting for survival for so long and now together we are on the path to a wonderful sustainable future,” said Christian Capocaccia, General & Artistic Director of Syracuse Opera. “Joining forces with Tri-Cities Opera, we will again be able to present to you opera as it was meant to be – with beautiful sets and costumes, gorgeous singing, and a full orchestra. Art doesn’t get much more exciting than this.”

Months of discussion, through a formal consulting process resulted in a model that creates synergy while enhancing the individual identity of each company.

“Considering that 2 years ago, both companies were forced to shut down completely, the advent of this collaboration is a miracle,” said John Rozzoni, General Director of Tri-Cities Opera. “Together we are poised to create a more robust and inclusive vision of what opera can be to our communities.”
