Buffalo Sabres defenseman Casey Fitzgerald returned to practice Tuesday at KeyBank Center for the first time since suffering an upper-body injury on March 10.
Head coach Don Granato said after practice that he will not return to the lineup for Wednesday’s home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but is close to returning.
“All signs look good. But I won’t put him out there tomorrow. After that, we’ll see what we feel like.”
Fitzgerald was injured during a fight with Vegas Golden Knights forward Keegan Kolesar.
The 25-year-old has tallied four assists in 21 games with Buffalo this season.
