The Hobart men’s lacrosse team (2-3, 0-1) blew a four-goal lead and fell to Sacred Heart (3-3, 1-0), 9-8, in overtime on Saturday afternoon at Campus Field.
Hobart led 7-3 early in the third quarter, but Sacred Heart scored three goals in the third quarter and two in the fourth to tie the game and force overtime. The Statesmen were held to just two goals in the second half.
Ryan Archer recorded a game-high four points, all on assists, for Hobart. Chad Bach netted a hat trick for the Statesmen while John Herlihy scored twice. Derrek Madonna, Tommy Mott and Sam Ward also tallied to round out the scoring.
Kevin Holtby made 10 saves in the loss.
Sacred Heart was led by Morgan O’Reilly, who notched two goals and two assists. Carson Spooner recorded three points, including two goals and an assist. Ryan Stout netted the game-winner in overtime. Johnny Morgan, Skyler Wilde and Jake Ward also scored in the win.
Nicky LaBanca stopped 14 shots to earn the victory.
Hobart will be back in action next Saturday when they host Bryant at 12 p.m.
