Police report the arrest of a Ovid man following a county-wide Sex Offender Compliance Check.
The purpose of the compliance check is to verify addresses and other information that is required to be listed under the New York State Sex Offender Registration Act. As a result, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office arrested Michael J. Travis, 47, of Ovid with a sex offender registry violation and offering a false instrument for filing.
It is alleged that Travis purposely failed to report required information and was taken into custody.
Travis will reappear at the Romulus Town Court on a later date.
