The Macedon Town Board welcomed Fabian Rivero as the new Macedon Police Chief at their Thursday, March 10 meeting.
The search for a new police chief has been underway since November 2021, when Chief John Collela retired after serving in the role for 18 years, according to Wayne Times. The board reviewed 11 candidates before choosing Rivero, who has lived in the Town of Walworth for 20 years.
Rivero will assume the role of police chief on Monday, March 14.
Prior to being appointed to his new role, Rivero served as Chief of Public Safety at Monroe Community College, commander of the Rochester Police Department’s (RPD) patrol divisions and as a member of the RPD’s SWAT unit. Additionally, he served in the U.S. Military for over 20 years, including deployments to both the Middle East and South Africa.
Rivero retired from the RPD in 2020. He is on the Board of Directors of the Veterans Outreach Center and holds a master’s degree in public administration from SUNY Brockport.
