Sabres top Maple Leafs in Heritage Classic

The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs, 5-2, on Sunday evening in the 2022 Heritage Classic at Tim Horton’s Field in Hamilton, Ontario.

Vinnie Hinostroza and Peyton Krebs scored twice for the Sabres and Tage Thompson sealed the victory with an empty-net goal.

Craig Anderson made 34 saves to earn career win No. 301.

Buffalo’s power play finished 0-for-3 while the penalty kill was a perfect 4-for-4.


Ondrej Kase and Auston Matthew tallied for Toronto.

Petr Mrazek stopped 33 shots for the Maple Leafs.

The Sabres get a few days off before they begin a three-game road trip on Thursday night Edmonton against the Oilers.
