Cornell falls to Colgate in Game 2 of ECAC Quarterfinals

The Cornell men’s hockey team fell to Colgate, 4-2, in Game 2 of the ECAC Quarterfinals on Saturday night at Lynah Rink.

The best-of-three series is now even at a game apiece.

Cornell’s Ian Shane allowed three of the four goals. He was pulled in the second period for Joe Howe.

Mitch Benson stopped 25-of-27 shots to earn the victory for Colgate.


The Big Red finished 0-for-4 on the power play and 5-for-7 on the penalty kill.

Ben Berard and Matt Stienburg scored for Cornell.

Alex Young, Ross Mitton, Jeff Stewart and Matt Verboon tallied for Colgate.

Cornell will host Colgate on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the deciding game of the best-of-three series. The winner advances to the ECAC Hockey Semifinals next weekend in Lake Placid.
