It took more than 60 minutes, but the RIT men’s hockey defeated Sacred Heart, 1-0, in Game 1 of the Atlantic Hockey Quarterfinals on Friday night at Gene Polisseni Center.
Tommy Scarfone made 39 saves to earn the shutout for RIT. Justin Robbins 25-of-26 shots for Sacred Heart.
The Tigers finished 0-for-4 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill.
Dan Willett netted the game-winner in overtime.
RIT will try to sweep the best-of-three series on Saturday night at Gene Polisseni Center. Face-0ff is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
