I don’t usually pay much attention to TikTok trends. But one that caught my eye was conveyor belt sushi restaurants. The idea of just grabbing what you wanted as it came down a line, instead of ordering your food seemed so fascinating.
FL1 FORECAST: Cloudy, cooler Wednesday precedes widespread Friday rain and a Saturday chill So I did what any normal person would do in 2022 and I googled conveyor belt sushi near me. To my surprise something actually popped up. And that is how we ended up at Sakana-Ya Sushi Bar in Syracuse.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect when we walked in. All told, it was worth the trip. Walking in you’re greeted by a member of the team, once they take your drink order you’re pretty much on your own. You can sit right at the bar at the conveyor belt or you can sit at a booth. Once you’ve taken your seat it comes down to sitting back and watching the sushi come down the line.
There is a menu to order from if eating from a conveyer belt doesn’t fit your fancy.
Overall Sakana-Ya Sushi Bar was a really cool place. If you’re an introvert- it’s an ideal setup. Little to no talking is required. There’s always something coming down the line, so there isn’t much of a wait involved. If you’re a sushi lover and are looking to try something new this should be on your Finger Lakes bucket list.
