The Atlantic Coast Conference announced Wednesday night that Syracuse guard Buddy Boeheim has been suspended one game for punching Florida State’s Wyatt Wilkes in the stomach in the first half of Wednesday’s game.

That means the senior will miss Thursday’s ACC Tournament game against top-seeded Duke.
If Syracuse loses to Duke in the quarterfinal round of the ACC tournament, Wednesday’s win over Florida State was likely Boeheim’s last game in a Syracuse uniform.
After the game Boeheim released the following statement:
“In the heat of today’s game, after some shoving in the lane, I swung my arm while turning to go back up the court. It was wrong to act out in frustration. I apologized to Wyatt Wilkes multiple times in the handshake line. He said not to worry about it, but I know it was wrong. I pride myself in respecting the game and our opponent. I will not react that way again.”
