Syracuse’s upset bid falls just short in loss to Duke in ACC Tournament (full coverage)

The Syracuse men’s basketball team played their hearts out, but fell just short to the top-seeded Duke Blue Devils by a final score of 88-79 in the ACC Tournament’s quarterfinal round on Thursday afternoon at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

With Buddy Boeheim serving a one-game suspension, Jimmy Boeheim and Joe Girard went off and nearly carried Syracuse to a huge upset.

The Orange led 40-36 at the half, but were outscored 52-39 in the second half.

Boeheim finished with a game-high 28 points while Girard finished with 23. Cole Swider was the only other player to finish in double figures for Syracuse as he netted 15 points.

The Syracuse Orange men’s basketball team (16-16) takes on the top-seeded Duke Blue Devils (26-5) in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament this afternoon at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

The Orange will be without senior guard Buddy Boeheim after he received a one-game suspension for punching Florida State’s Wyatt Wilkes in the stomach in Wednesday’s 96-57 victory in the quarterfinal round.

The game will be televised on ESPN. Tipoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
