Geneva woman arrested for welfare fraud

Police report the arrest of a Geneva woman following a welfare fraud investigation.

According to a news release, the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested Anepsy Ortiz-Amaro, 33, of Geneva for welfare fraud and offering a false instrument for filing.


It is alleged that Ortiz-Amaro received $2035.00 in SNAP benefits from September to December of 2021. She failed to report the father of her children was residing with her and had over $19,000 in unreported wages from the above time period.

Ortiz-Amaro was issued an appearance ticket and will answer charges in the Hopewell Town Court at a later date.
