Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office pays tribute to fallen veterans

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is honoring local fallen military veterans with new vehicle decals.

Sheriff Brian Schenck says the Heroes Ride with Us Veterans Recognition Initiative has been launched by the Sheriff’s Office in partnership with the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 704 of Cayuga County.

The vehicle decal graphics were made by design students at Cayuga Onondaga BOCES, and the program celebrated its launch on Tuesday, March 8 at the BOCES center in Aurelius.

Additional funding for the initiative came from the Auburn Elks Club and Cayuga County Deputy Sheriff’s Benevolent Association. Donations to expand the initiative can be sent to the county Benevolent Association at 7445 County House Rd. in Auburn in the form of checks or money orders, with a note saying the donation is for the Heroes Program.
