In this episode, the Senator explains why she believes the nearly 50 cent per gallon state gas tax should be suspended.
She says the state has a budget surplus and can afford to maintain roads without the revenue from the tax. Senator Helming says high fuel prices are hitting farmers in the Finger Lakes particularly hard.
She also opposes the Senate’s Climate and Community Investment Act that she says could raise prices by an additional 50 cents per gallon and would also increase the cost of home heating oil.
