Auburn City Council makes Cold War veterans property tax exemption permanent

The Auburn City Council has voted to make permanent a tax break for Cold War veterans.

Auburn City Clerk Chuck Mason says the exemption takes ten percent off the assessed valuation of those veterans’ properties. The city has been renewing the exemption every ten years, but decided last week to make it permanent.

The exemption is made possible by a state law. It applies to the veteran’s primary residence. Listen to this week’s Inside the FLX conversation with Auburn City Clerk Chuck Mason below.
