The Syracuse Crunch fell to the Utica Comets, 8-5, on Friday night at the Upstate Medical University Arena.
Both Crunch goaltenders struggled as they each allowed three goals. Max Lagace turned aside 12-of-15 shots before being relieved by Hugo Alnefelt who stopped 7-of-10.
Charles Hudon scored twice in the loss while Gage Goncalves, Remi Elie and Antoine Morand also netted goals.
Syracuse went 1-for-3 on the power play and finished 1-for-2 on the penalty kill.
Frederik Gauthier, Grame Clarke, Brian Flynn, Alexander Holtz, Fabian Zetterlund, Michael Vukojevic, Nolan Foote and A.J. Greer tallied for Utica.
Akira Schmid made 37 saves to earn the victory.
Syracuse will try to bounce back on Saturday night as they host the Comets again. Face-off is slated for 7 p.m.
