Auburn City Council accepts state grant for skate park construction

The final piece of the financing puzzle is in place for reconstruction of the skate park at Casey Park in Auburn.

Thursday, the City Council voted to accept a $250,000 state grant to pay for half the cost of updating the park, first built in 2001. Auburn City Clerk Chuck Mason says the new skate park will be one of the most up-to-date facilities of its kind, and will attract users from all over.

A large crowed turned out for a public hearing in December to give their input on the design. Grindline Skateparks, which has done parks all over the country, will do the work. Construction is expected to begin this year and be completed by December.
